Reports To: Airport Manager
Location: J.M. Nkomo Airport
Job Purpose
The position exists to ensure all regional airports’ finance activities are monitored, recorded accurately and timeously towards contributing to the efficient financial management of the airport in line with the set policies, processes and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provides regional airports’ financial and operational statistical reports to aid production of management internal and external reporting monthly.
• Ensures all regional airports’ financial records are accurate and updated timeously in line with the approved policies and procedures whilst overseeing all accounting processes and records.
• Monitors and oversees the invoicing, cash receipting, recording and banking processes at all regional airports.
• Monitors the utilisation of allocated cash resources ensuring cash utilisation is in line with the company’s processes and procedures.
• Reviews and monitors all the regional airports general ledger accounts to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Monitors debtors and ensures collections are done in line with the existing credit policy.
• Monitors, records and reconcile regional airport stocks in line with the stock management procedures.
• Prepares regional airports operations and capital expenditure budgets, monthly variance analysis reports and monitors revenue leakages for closure.
• Monitors and supervises all regional accounting staff performance in line with set performance standards.
• Prepares financial information for internal and external audit reviews and liaises with them to ensure compliance with audit requirements.
• Prepares and updates the regional airports fixed assets schedules and/or register ensuring the existence of the assets.
• Liaises with airport operations in managing and building good relationships with stakeholders including customers and suppliers.
Qualifications and Experience
• Degree in accounting or related field.
• Professional certification (e.g. CA, CPA, CIMA, ACCA) or equivalent.
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Sage), Excel, and Word.
• At least 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in an airport or transportation environment.
Skills and Competencies
• Sound knowledge of Computerized Accounting Packages essential.
• Knowledgeable of budgeting and budgetary control.
• Good understanding of IFRS.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Good leadership and supervisory of accounting staff.
• Good report writing and analytical skills understanding of airport operations.
• Financial analysis and reporting skills.
• Budgeting and Budgetary control.
• Self-starter with the ability to work under minimum supervision.
• Knowledgeable of credit control practices.
