MAINTENANCE MANAGER (ROBERT GABRIEL MUGABE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT)

Reports to: 

Director of Airport Operations

Job Purpose:

The Maintenance Manager ensures the effective functioning of all airport systems and facilities by overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment. This role requires budget management, technical support, and resource allocation to maintain airport infrastructure and ensure compliance with safety standards.

 

Responsibilities:

Technical Planning: Oversee maintenance schedules, minimize downtime, and ensure cost-effective repairs and equipment usage.

Facility Maintenance: Supervise the upkeep of buildings, airside infrastructure, and essential airport systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).

Vendor & Contractor Management: Manage relationships with contractors and service providers, ensuring high-quality service delivery.

Electrical & Mechanical Systems: Develop and manage a maintenance program for the airport’s electrical and mechanical systems, including runways, taxiways, and other critical infrastructure.

Operational Vehicles: Manage the maintenance of airport operational vehicles, including firefighting and staff buses.

Human Resources: Lead and supervise the maintenance team, ensuring training, performance reviews, and skill development.

New Systems: Oversee the procurement, installation, and maintenance of new systems, ensuring they meet required specifications.

 

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Aeronautical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field.

Master’s in Business Administration or Business Leadership is a must have.

Relevant industry certifications (e.g., HVAC, PMP, OSHA), and airport-specific training (e.g., ACI, IATA).

5-10 years in maintenance, ideally in an airport or aviation environment. Experience with large-scale projects and crisis management is a plus.

Proficiency in maintenance management systems (CMMS) and asset management

Strong leadership, project management, technical problem-solving, and communication skills.
