AIRPORT MANAGER (JOSHUA MQABUKO NKOMO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT)

Reports To: 

Director of Airport Operations

Job Purpose:

The Airport Manager will be responsible for the overall management of Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport (JMNIA), ensuring all airport operations meet international standards of safety, security, and customer service. This leadership role requires effective coordination of airport functions to ensure smooth, efficient operations and provide a world-class passenger experience. The Airport Manager will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize operational performance, drive business development, ensure financial performance, and uphold regulatory standards.

 

Responsibilities:

Operations Management: Ensure smooth 24-hour operations, overseeing airside safety, passenger handling, and cargo services. Strong leadership and understanding of airport operations are essential.

Security & Emergency Management: Manage security and emergency procedures, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and effective incident management.

Business Development: Identify growth opportunities and improve services to drive revenue, safety, and operational efficiency.

Financial Management: Control budgets, monitor costs, and ensure effective use of resources while maximizing revenue from all airport services.

Customer Service: Enhance passenger experience by maintaining high service standards, addressing feedback, and ensuring smooth operations.

Human Resources Management: Supervise, train, and develop airport staff to meet performance targets and operational goals.

 

Key Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business management, Aviation, or related field.

Master's in business administration or business leadership is a must have.

Airport Management Certification is an added advantage.

5-7 years’ experience in the service industry, including 3+ years in a supervisory or management role, ideally within airport operations.

Sound knowledge of relevant ICAO SARPs.

Proven managerial ability with a clean record of service.

Full understanding of airport operations, procedures, and industry developments.
